NotesMind ("we", "our", "the platform") is an educational study tool that helps students search for topic-related videos, get AI-assisted explanations of their notes, and track study progress. This page explains what information we collect, how it's used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password to create your account.
• Notes and files you upload: If you upload notes or documents for analysis, that content is processed to generate summaries and study material.
• Search queries: When you use the video search feature, your search terms are sent to YouTube to retrieve relevant videos.
• AI Tutor conversations: Questions or messages you send to the AI Tutor feature are sent to our AI service providers to generate responses.
• Usage data: We track basic in-app activity (such as XP earned and lessons completed) to power progress-tracking features.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core features: video search, AI-assisted tutoring, and note analysis.
• To let you log in and keep your progress saved across sessions.
• To improve the reliability and performance of the platform.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

To provide certain features, NotesMind sends limited data to these third-party services:

• YouTube Data API (Google): used to search for and display educational videos within the app. Your search terms are sent to YouTube for this purpose. Google's own privacy policy applies to how YouTube processes this data: policies.google.com/privacy
• AI providers (Anthropic, Groq): used to power the AI Tutor and note-analysis features. Messages you send to these features are processed by these providers to generate responses.

4. Data Storage

Account and progress data (such as your name, email, and study history) is stored securely using Supabase, our backend database provider, with access controls ensuring you can only access your own data.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

NotesMind uses cookies and browser local storage on your device to:

• Keep you signed in between visits (authentication session).
• Temporarily store in-progress study data on your device before it is saved to your account.

We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes, and we do not allow third parties to place tracking cookies on your device through NotesMind. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reset unsaved in-progress data.

6. Children's Privacy

NotesMind is intended for use by students, which may include users under 18. We do not knowingly collect more information than necessary to provide the study features described above. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns about a student's use of NotesMind, please contact us using the details below.

7. Your Choices

• You can stop using the video search or AI Tutor features at any time; this simply means those features won't process your input.
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as NotesMind's features evolve. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top.
